I rarely see a Blue Jay all summer but this time of the year I start hearing them in the area. I picked up a bag of whole peanuts yesterday, threw some in my tray feeders and within a few minutes there were 2 Blue Jays doing the grab and run. Within an hour the peanuts, about 3 dozen, were all gone and so were the Jays. I threw out more and within 5 minutes they were back. Same thing again this morning. I'm thinking I could put out the whole 3# bag and they'd hide every one within 1 day. It's almost as if they can smell them.
