Invisible Fencing?

Recommended Posts

I have a gift certificate to Cabelas and I am thinking I am going to get a invisible fencing form my dog. My question is, what is the difference between the Innotek and the Cabelas brand? Why is the Innotek $100 more? Second has anyone seen the Wireless fencing? Does it work well? Thanks, JegerJack.

Hey Jack!

Yes, the electronic fences DO work fine! My 2 cents to you on them is to be CERTAIN to allow your dog the visibility of the perimeter-line initially.
Usually there is some kind of flagging system or something these systems have included to allow you to visibly "flag" your perimeter you are wiring so as to allow you and your dog BOTH the actual "fenceline location" just by looking out in your yard. Bring the dog up to the line and have him "sit" just INSIDE it. Walk outside of the line yourself, then just keep walking until the dog comes to you without your commanding him to "come". Then as he is "zapped" by the collar(system) PROMPTLY command him to "stay"! A couple of these tests will be plenty to allow the dog his sensing there is something out there telling him (by the collar) NOT to go further.

Again...be CERTAIN your dog SEES the flags or whatever you decide to use to visibly identify the perimeter you have wired..IS KEY. If you must...use more than allotted also!

Do NOT use this system on a PUP!! OVER 1 yr old dogs are a usual minimum age-group for this system ONLY!!

Best of luck!

I have the no wire invisible fence. works great on my lab and springer. The unit sits in the garage and emmits a signal 70-80 ft in a circle. The nice thing is you can trun down the radius if the circle. Another nice option is you can take it anywhere there is power.

Make sure you spend the time to train your dog on the bounds with flags. Very important. If you think you have them all trained... train them some more.
