April Fools' Day is every day for these wild Iowa pranksters known as polyphemus moths. The two spots on its hind wings resemble eyes - some say of those resembling an owl - which serve to trick predators and scare them away. It also led to the moth's name, taken from the cyclops named Polyphemus in Greek mythology. You can find this moth in Iowa and across North America.
