Slabasaurus Posted April 14, 2015 Share Posted April 14, 2015 I've held many of the opinions discussed in this article for a while... the cost of trout fishing One really neat thing that's going on now that the article doesn't touch on is the hatcheries that are breeding more natural trout - in other words, feeding them food they'd find in the wild, simulating current and stream temps based on seasons, and altering light as the fish would find in the wild.This is the exception now, but they're finding trout raised in this manner fare much better in the wild than the pellet fed hatchery fish.I'll see if I can find some more info on that program... it's pretty cool stuff.A lot of us fish put and take fisheries, or streams that rely heavily (if not solely) on stocking to produce fish... so I don't see an "end" to stocking or anything, just wonder if maybe there's a better way to do it...
