amt90
I am sure this has probably been covered in the past, but if I buy a UTV or ATV from a private party in MN, will I be required to pay sales tax on that purchase when I go and register that UTV in my name with the state of MN. It seems like I keep finding conflicting information on the internet. I will call the DMV tomorrow to ask, just wondering if any knew for sure. Lord knows they tax the dump out of everything else in this state!
eyehunter
I did not have to pay sales tax on my 4-wheeler when I registered it about 5 years ago. I bought mine used from a private party. I did however have to pay tax on my Harley when I bought it a few years back. difference may be that the state of Minnesota does not issue titles for atv's and they do on a motor cycle. RuddyDuck
I'm 99% sure you don't have to pay taxes on one bought from a private party. Atv's just have the card like a sled or boat, so no real title. I didn't pay taxes on the last one I bought used 5 years ago.
fivebucks
I did not pay tax on a private purchase of a sled last fall - just tax on the trailer.
