I have not been in the area you speak of in quite a while. However, I would think that the fishing there would be as good as anywhere. With the weather patterns we have has as of late, fishing has been rather hit or miss. With that in mind I have always felt that river fish are less susceptible to weather changes and cold fronts.

I have talked to people who have fished north of where you are talking and they have been doing quite well on small smallmouth.. they said the bigger fish have been harder to come by but the numbers have been fun!

Best of luck!

The smallmouth fishing has been good, but the spots have varied. We found some nice Croix smallies (15" - 17") in a good current and on a drop from 8' to 22' yesterday. They were hammering our presentations (cranks & tops) just off the break to 22'. The bite stopped quickly...a 'ski attempted to steal a 14" bronzie from our line. Very exciting for the moment, but it killed the activity.
