JSK76
I would like to know how these inline circuit breakers function. I'm talking about the ones like you find on your trolling motor. So if the load goes beyond the amp rating it opens up, braking the contact but how does it know when to reset? Only after the load has been reduced? What if you had a dead short would it stay open for a long period? Would it over heat? Thinking of using them in place of the fuse on my electric jacks. Racer5039
It works on a bi-metal strip. When it gets hot it snaps open. when it cools off it will close again. Look for one that has a button you need to push in to reset.
