Gulp

Recommended Posts

Bought some Gulp for bass fishing this morning; gave it a try and found that it was difficult to keep the slimy booger on a texas rig. The day was warm soI figure the heat had something to do with it. It was like trying to hook old chicken liver. Any ideas on the best way to rig before I give up??

I personally love gulp. But I agree with you that they are slimy and fall off, untill I found a hook that has a seperate bar for the worm. They work great and now I dont have a problem with them. One thing that is hard to get used to is the horrid smell. I think that the slimy texture helps them slip through the weeds better. And another thing is I think they are tough, until they get dry. They say on they bag not to put a used worm back in the bag, but I dont know what else to put em' in to keep them form drying.

I've actually had great success with the Gulp! product; specifically the minnow worm style.

If the worm I'm using looks like it can see another day, I just pop it in an extra ziploc I carry along for used baits. I never put the worm back in the original bag. I actually do this with all my plastics.

SERIOUSLY! It was THIS big!

i had problems with GULP as well and now have switched to YUM brand. the LPT technology really adds a great smell that the fish seem to love. they grab on and don't let go! they also seem to hold up better as far as tearing.

I'd agree with ExudeDude on this one. Gulp won't cause a dramatic increase in your success. In fact over the course of time, I bet it makes no increase in your fishing success.

Still got to find them to make them bite, right? I say use the stuff if you like it, but it's no better than the plastic you were using before.

I had some really nice Matzuo hooks which had a weighted jig head with a spring like coil coming out of the jig. You slide the worm on and kind of screw it on the coil then put the hook back in to the worm body.. Worked great... and yea.. I love the GULP.. I believe they are much better than the regular worms. I went through 1 1/2 pk on saturday caught about 20 fish with them. I ran out and tried some power bait worms.. Nothing. I am sold

When fishing for bass, I primarily use nightcrawler colored Senkos, but I've found that the minnow/nightcrawler style Gulp works just as well and they're a dollar less per pack.

The gulp worms seem more durable on the hook, but turn into leather if you leave them on the hook out of water vs. a Senko which can be left on for long periods of time.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
