54fighting
Looking for some advice. I have an older clam voyager and the canvas is getting pretty thin. Not quite see through but close. Getting tough to keep any heat in. I see that clam has a replacement canvas tent for all of the voyager models but it is not insulated. Looks like it is the 600 Denier fabric. Thoughts on weather it would be worth forking out the 200 bucks for a new tent or just biting the bullet and buying a new thermal model? Thanks
JayDeHay
I would say go with the thermal, I'm seeing them for $600-$700 online. If you figure how long you've used your current Voyager, and how much propane you could save with a thermal, it just might pay for itself in a couple years VS. the $400-$500 you save by buying the new canvas. That said: If you decide to get rid of your old one, can I call dibs? Tundra Rat
I had the same situation as you. Just could not justify the price for a new full thermal for the few times I fish. I called clam and they recommended the Jason mitchel thermal x full thermal replacement tent @ $289.99 + tax/shipping. Installed it 2 weeks ago and I would say it is about a 96% direct replacement on my old voyager the only thing is the velcro straps inside are larger to accomodate the larger pole diameter of the Jason mitchel frame. you can find it under parts on the clam internet site. I would recommend calling them and getting this information directly from them for peace of mind. just my 2Cents. I actually enjoy ice fishing again. 54fighting
Tundra, thanks for the heads up. Talked to clam and they said the only issue is the thermal x canvas is a couple inches taller but it will fit. I think I will go that way.
