rickwalley
I want to partially take apart some of it, as the install instructions sort of tell a person how to do. I'm assuming some sort of hi temp thread sealant would be needed during reassembly of the gas valve and the the pipes and elbows that eventually feed the combustion chamber. I'm assuming not to use regular gas tape or pipe joint compound would be correct . Can anyone tell me where to get a better thread sealer? 38bill
The basic Oatey Great White pipe dope that I purchased at a big box store is rated at 500F+ . Don't think you need anything more than that. Some of the Teflon tapes are rated at slightly less. Pipe dope is a little messier than the tape but you don't have to worry about any pieces of tape getting into the system and causing problems.
