ice fishing for cats

Hello I really got turned on to catfishing this past season and would love to do some ice fishing for channel cats. Any suggestions on good places to try and tactics? I am thinking that Lake Byellsby would be a good place. A tip up with some cut bait seems lie it would be a good approach. Any place in the metro worth trying . Maybe Long Lake in New Brighton? The lake's Rice Creek connection to the mighty Missisp seems like it would hold cats.

Thanks

While I'm sure you can catch some cats about anywhere that they exist, I've only seen or heard of consistent action out of two systems -- Horseshoe chain near Richmond, and Zubro in SE MN. Look for holes, the cats school up big time. There's a 'cattin the chain' thread in the st cloud forum with plenty of info.

That link (and the links within it) should get you started.
