alumacraft3
Wondering if this topic has been discussed? I looked in the archives but couldn't come up with anything. If there is a good thread about this could someone post a link to it? I'm thinking of ordering a new 8x16 ice castle either the LOW hybrid model or the hybrid Mille lacs. Wondering if there is any options that are worth adding from the factory with this style of house? Also wanting to hear some aftermarket modifications that are good to do to the house. I'm on the fence about getting a 8x20 instead of the 8x16. Any input on that would be great also. Thanks.
eyehunter78
If you can afford it go with 8 x 20. With all the stuff they put in there you end up with very little useable floor space. I think the 8 x 20 would help greatly.

alumacraft3
Dirt could you explain the camper door and the batteries being together? I wasn't aware there were different door options. Im assuming your talking about the main door that goes outside? I also wasn't aware the batteries would be put in different spots? What do you mean by the generator thing? I know I would love the extra space of the 20 footer but the last 3 years we went to lake of the woods during new years it was up in the air if they were going to let us out with a 1/2 ton truck and 16ft wheel house. Actually 3 years ago they didn't open the road up and we had to go to upper red. They limit what size of houses and what size of trucks they let out during early ice. When they first open the road to wheel houses they usually limit it to 16ft then to 20ft then everything else. I'm a little worried about shortening my season with a bigger house. dirt292lv
Camper door is your entrance door I think they seal a little better but is just a little smaller then the fiberglass doors As for the battery's go I looked a few different models all the Batterys were together so I thought they all did that but nope not mine so lucky me I get to charge one of the battery's every now and again that like I said just ticks me off The generator plug for you alternate power I would move just so your not tripping over your cord ever time you walk out of your house when I do it again it will be on the opposite side of my door and close to the front so I can leave my generator in the back of the truck As for size that's all up to you its you money your call and your fish house as for what I stated that's all my opinion's bluid it how you want but you should physically go check out some different models and get a base started of what you want I end up getting a 26+v and love it the only thing I wish was different is ceder ceiling and rv package with the exception of the others I've listed Good luck on your choice hope I've helped somewhat
RiverChuckNorris
I own a 2011 8x16 IC. Without question, the number one option I would get is a Galvanized frame! It wasn't an option in 2011 (I even asked them about it but they weren't doing it at that time). Whatever the premium, pay it. You'll be rusting in 2 years if you don't.I also got the rubber flooring and the toy-hauler/beaver tail. Happy with both.
hunter76
Lights up top for the bunks and outlets up there as well. Definetly spay foam everything, especially the floor. Get the self tracking satellite also, wish we did that. Also an outlet on each side by the back bunks.
