Bluetooth wireless sonar

Rumor has it, this will be available very soon… Bluetooth wireless sonar designed for Ice Fishing. I think it has dual beam as well.

I have to admit I am very intrigued.

I'm curious how that differs from what's on the market? Both in features and target price point.

If you are referring to the Sonarphone, the only difference I can tell you for sure is that the Sonarphone uses Wifi and this one uses Bluetooth. Not sure what the price differences are. I’m skeptical about the beam angle when you have 2 ft of ice and the sonar is bobbing on top of the water, but who knows maybe it will work. Designing an old school flasher user interface is a good start though.

I see it's available at Cabela's as a ship-to-store option for $230. The specs say it's good to -4 degrees, wonder if that's the limit of the battery or some other reason?

Neat technology, but I see this device being the reason my tablet AND phone end up on the bottom of the lake. I don't think cell/tablet batteries have a long enough reserve to make me want to use this over my trusty flasher.
