Deep edge or Milfoil use of Plastic craws?

Need some advice.

This year I am finally having good luck using plastic craws -- I had read the thread on the Kicken' craw earlier -- with a Texas rig.

I started using a brass, not lead, weight with a bead and success followed. The click and bit of bright color may have been enough to grab attention.

Plus I downsized my hook from a 4 to a 2 (may have allowed the craw to wiggle more on the fall)

Question: Anyone use this during mid-summer deep edge fishing, or use it for breaking through the canopy of foil?

I have some heavy (1/2 oz) brass bullet weights...would it be worth using these texas rigged or a very short (6" or less) carolina rig for edge or hole fishing?

Yea, these can be great a bit later in the summer when fish are under the canopy of foil. I use the tungsten weights for this - a bit smaller profile for the weight, so they punch through the canopy a bit easier. 1/2 oz. - 3/4 oz. I like to experiment with hook size a lot. I've noticed I do miss better fish once in awhile on the smaller hook size (especially during the spawn time when they are more just moving the bait away and not feeding). With the 4/0 you will generally miss smaller fish that can't take it in - which is okay with me. Your right on the action - use the smallest hook you can get away with for the most action on the bait.

These can be rigged mojo or carolina on the deep edges too. I'd start at around an 18" leader for both. They are great baits, bass love that larger profile.
