Pigs and Jigs around docks?

Jigs have become one of my favorite techniques. I use 3/8 oz. the majority of the time. I'll downsize in shallow/quiet water down to as low as 1/4 oz. Quiet lure entry and vertical fall are important around docks. There is a short period in the spring when I stop on the jig, but I fish it early in the year on the river (prespawn) and again after the spawn. During the spawn I prefer plastics, as the fish seem to drop the baits quicker.

Hey RandyFish-
I've been fishing a jig around some different dock structures on Tonka over the last few days. I have been using a black/blue jig with a spider grub used as a trailer.

A jig is a little too heavy for me to try skipping with my baitcaster, but you can "skate it" for a foot or so, with a good horizontal entry.
