How did the new safety switch work out on the ION?

I know heard a few problems of the new safety switch braking off on the ION. I have the old style but I'm thinking of upgrading to the new one with reverse but not if I've got a good chance of braking the safety switch. It seems like ION stays on top of things so I'm guessing it's not much of an issue?
