Marcum Units

Down looking at the Marcum Ice fishing units. I am confused looked at the LX 7 and LX 9.

I see that the 7 can be upgraded to a 9 functions but what ones I am not sure. Marcum site tells you a few things but stilled confused. Also site states you have to mail in the 7 along with $480. for the upgrade. So if the suggested price is between 650/699 for LX7 and price for the LX 9 is $1199 So is the upgrade worth it. Still confused

it's mainly for those who purchased a LX7 before the LX9 came out, they now have an option to upgrade. The $$ difference and decision to upgrade vs buy new depends on what you could sell your LX7 for...

Have not bought anything. Thats why I am asking is it better to go with the 9 and are all the bells and whistles used enough to justify the cost

The LX-7 to LX-9 upgrade simply adds the Camera/DVR features. I don't know for sure if they just add that to your existing LX-7 shell or simply swap out the entire shell altogether?

I've got an older VX-1 and it does everything I could ever ask in a fish finder.

As far as depth finders they are pretty much the same. Really boils down to if you want a unit that has both camera and depth finder. Both units would be solid unis.

Just checked, they replace some of internal parts boards that is why you have to send the unit in. Not real happy with any of the cameras I have seen just think I go with LX 7

You could look at buying a uses LX7 and then upgrade that.

Save you some dough. Since they are upgrading some internals anyway.

Load if your going to use a camera get the 9. If not go with a 6 or 7. I have a 6 and like it but will be getting a 7 for screen size. If you use mostly the flasher mode get the LX-5. Call me if you need more details.
