Polaris xplorer issue

Crow Hunter

Recommended Posts

Had an interesting problem with my 2001 Polaris Xplorer this week. I came in from the field, turned the on/off switch to off, wheeler kept running. I turned the key off, it still kept running. The indicator lights for reverse and neutral were also not working. After a few minutes, the engine died. I started it back up and it has worked just fine since, shuts off and the reverse and neutral lights are working correctly. It is stored in a shed, it sat outside the night before but there was no rain. Any ideas? Thanks.

Loose wire, ground? Polaris is ground to kill on the wiring so if the ground to the frame is loose or corroded that could happen. It is not uncommon for any vehicle of this age to have wiring issues where they loosen up or decay. That is where I would start.
