anyone ever fish green lake near spicer for smallies? I was up there last weekend for a family function and decided to wet a line for some pan fish and ended up getting 6 smallies in 30 min 2 of which had to be close to 20".
I've never caught smallies like these before is this normal?

Yep. Pretty normal. In the spring (I'm considering now spring as well) and fall the fish really school up up there and lots of times they are big. I'm talking thirty plus fish in a school, not five or six. In the spring they are pretty much in your typical staging areas off of breaks. In fall, I seem to find them much deeper. They seem to be a scorned fish by a lot of people (walleye guys) there, but the fishing is nothing short of phenomenal. Better than Mille Lacs for three to upper four pound fish in my opinion. Mille Lacs is better for fives and up.

It's a phenomanal lake from opener to ice-up.

I really hope they keep the regs tight there or we will definetly see a crash in the population like we did in the 80's.

Green has always been a smallie lake. Let's keep it that way.
