Abu Garcia Gearing

So I was looking at and Abu C3 6501 for catfishing but when I got to the store, I compared it to the C4 6600 and I was definitely willing to pay the extra $20 for a full thumb bar spool release on the C4 instead of the little push button on the C3.

What I didn't realize is that the C4 has a higher gear ratio than the C3. Does anyone know if I can re-gear the C4 to the ~5:1 ratio instead of the current ~6:1? Is there a place in town which could sell me the parts?

I doubt that anyone would stock the parts. For a drive gear and pinion gear it would cost more than the $20 difference. Are you sure you don't want to consider returning it if possible? If you want to pursue it, call Pure Fishing and find out if indeed only the drive gear and pinion gear need to be changed in order to alter the gear ratio. Usually that's all it is. Find out the part numbers for your reel also. You could even ask what those parts cost. I am an Abu parts dealer. I can order them for you and save you a little bit with my discount. If you're not comfortable swapping them out I can do them for you for a few bucks.
