actually this is the second year they have been out. as for length I roughly measured my auger at 40 inches from the bottom of the cover to where it hooks on the power head. to the top of the power head it was approx. 51 inches. it is advertised as 34.5 inches but I don't know how they came up with that. it is NOT a chipper blade setup it is like the lazer blades of strike master. the motors on the Clam and strikemaster's are both solos just with different color trim pieces on them. the solo is Not exclusive to strikemaster. any manufacturer can use that motor. just like strikemaster and jiffy did with the 2HP tecumseh motors.
