cereal bait

Recommended Posts

Is it just me or does it seem like kix cereal or captain crunch or any type of ball lookig cereal can be threaded onto a hair rig and make a simple quick easy egfective carp bait? Would it work? Whats your guys take on it? When I have a bowl seems like even though soaked in milk it would still stay on a hair rig.

I would think it would get soggy and fall off but I havnt used a hair rig yet to really know.I know in Europe they sell stuff already made in the shape and float like what your talking about.Would be nice to see someone chime in on baits that are similar to what gunner is bringing up.As I too am interested in what seems to be a common European method as far as baiting and hair rigs are concerned.

A hair rig looks like it gives a nicer presentation and researching random stuff seen it used with corn and it makes alot of sense to use a hair rig. Maybe a coating of peanut butter over the cereal will help keep it less soaked longer who knows heard peanut butter covered corn can be all it takes to get them biting sometimes. Trying to expand bait ideas for when I have no corn.

Tested out the ceral in a cup of water should have known after about 15 mins it got too soggy. Ill stick to corn I had old butter corn on the cob decobbed and frozen to last me until the next trip the butter really puts a heavy smell on the corn you guys think this adds atraction or offends carp? Maybe ill try to freeze dry some corn the frozen corn I decobbed was left in the car heat gotto it no good anymore.

try this and let me know if it works for you ...

Bread Crumbs - I use Great value plain bread crumbs from walmart .. 1.10$ . quarter can of cream style corn .. add little at time and mix it well.. do not make it too wet it will fall .. too dry it will fall too laugh .

when done you should feel crums little moist .. make some balls of it .. drop it into water ..it should break down in about 2-3 mins.. the idea is presentation of some fool pile around your hookbait .. if the ball does not break it will not work.
