Walleyehooker
Have a Chevrolet motorhome and the AC isn't working and the compressor isn't kicking in. My question is will recharging possibly get the compressor to kick in? I just had a similar problem with my 02 Suburban and could jump the 2 wire to start the compressor. Have read that you cant or it is different with the older 3 wires to the compressor.
Jeremy airjer W
Always post a Year, Make, Model, and Engine Size with any automotive question...The a/c system is usually protected by two pressure switches. The high side switch, which is normally closed, will open if the pressure gets to high breaking the supply of power to the compressor. The low side switch, which is normally open, will open if the pressure gets to low and will break the supply of power to the compressor. So if the refrigerant is to low, roughly 25 psi on the low side, the compressor will never kick on. If one of the pressure switches is bad, the compressor will not kick on. It could also be fuses, relays, wiring, or the control head itself causing the problem.
