Scott M
Heading for Vail on a family vacation, have some fishing arranged with Mr. Keefe. I am also planning a return to an alpine lake I hiked into near Leadville and some time on the Arkansas by Buena Vista. Maybe more if I'm lucky! What I'm hoping for is some methods and flies advice. I did streamers on the Arkansas and hooked up a few times, fished Adams for the alpine lake cutts. I tried high sticking on the Arkansas with no luck.Any other methods I should check out? Streams within an hour's drive of Vail to check out? Flies you've done well with? A couple new friends that have been to that part of the state are giving me some advice as well, but I thought I'd cast a wide net, pardon the pun. DavidHColorado
The streams at this point have three main hatches. The Eagle and Gore creeks are still pretty cold and will most likely have midges and a few blue-wing-olives. The Arkansas has a "mother's day caddis hatch" that is a swarm but the actual date varies each year.
