jstrommen13
Buddy of mine is looking into rigging new lights on his boat for night fishing. Looking at the led flood lights. Not looking to spend an arm and a leg Found some 900 lumen flood lights for 10 bucks a piece. Any advice from the night bow fishermen with led lights? trueflight
I've been running LEDs for a few years now. My advice is to go on amazon and buy some 27 watt spots and floods. The spots run around 2100 lumens and floods 1600. both are around $20. I run 4 spots and 6 floods. they last multiple nights of bowfishing off of a fully charged 12v 600 CA battery. Here's a pic of the light they throw off. we have no trouble seeing fish.
b123
I honestly think you will want to go alot bigger than that. Are you running off a generator or batteries? I run 50 watt led floods, that i paid 40 a piece for, i think they are close to 6000 lumens and i still am wishing they were brighter. I have 20w 1800 lumen on the back of my platform just to light up the boat and they dont do too much. I am in monti if you guys want to take a look or need some advise let me know. jstrommen13
Running a 2000w generator. Did u go with the cool white led? Or the warm? I noticed the warm is more of a yellow orange to it
kevslice
I've found HPS lights to be the best - One 150W light gives you 16,000 lumens - easy on your generator & cuts thru tainted water
b123
i use the warm LED you definantly want the yellow shade it cuts thru the mud way better. The HPS cuts thru the water better especially if you paint your reflectors, but the LED seem way brighter as far as looking at them goes. i do like the HPS but wanted to try something different this year.
