Buick Riviera Problems

Recommended Posts

Hey all. I have a 1990 Buick Riviera 3.8l Series 1 that has recently giving me a headach. I pulled a code 42 and a 47 off of it the SES soon light is on.What them codes mean Ive had no luck looking online. It has got a engine misfire. More so on high RPM under full load or low RPM like Overdrive you feel the shimy of the misfire going up a small hill. I recently have put a coil pack, coil pack moduel, Plug Wires & Plugs & New Fuel Filter. With the problem still there. Anything else there to look into guys?

I will say this whether it has nothing to do with it or not, this seems to me started after going through a automatic car wash.

code 42 is a genaric code for low voltage for your igniton module < why did you replaced it ? was this before or after noticed the missfire ? code 47 is you a/c clutch circuit also cruise control from what I understand. i would look at your installation of your ign module . did you bend a pin at the harness or something along those linesor ground a wire. ?

That is the symptoms that I went to Napa with. First my plugs were overdue and I know this along with the wires. Replaced them. Went back to napa and then thats when I put on the coil pack and module. Problem was resolved for maybe 1k miles. Problem is now back
