Deer food for the feeder

With the warm weather comes the return of the deer to our neighborhood. They look pretty thin coming off a tough winter. I want to put something out in the feeder for them but want to make sure it’s nothing that will hurt them. I had always just put shelled corn out but recently read how it is hard on their stomachs for digestion purposes when they haven’t had any for a length of time.

Anyway, I just wanted some opinions on what to give them.

Ideal would be some fast growing softwood brush with buds on it. That's as natural and as current as you can get in terms of not disrupting the bacterial community in their gut.

I'd do that, and I'd get the mineral out. But make sure it is a real mineral, and not something that is 98% salt with sugar and MSG added. Antler King and Fleet Farm have good mineral blends at reasonable prices.
