Modifying a rod locker

Carpenter

Recommended Posts

I have a tyee gl and it has an infloor rod locker. The far half of the locker has tubes but they tip up following the contour of the hull, so im thinking about removing them. My thoughts are to use rod socks and it should be easier to get rods in and out. Ive taken the tubes out once and its just the rough unfinished side of the fiberglass. Thoughts on what to line that area to make it easier to get rods in and out? I was thinking maybe frp paneling, but that may be difficult to form correctly. Or maybe carpet like whats in the storage compartments, but i dont now where to get some. Anyone know? Any thoughts/recommendations would be appreciated.

Not sure where to get but I actually think you can get big sheets are home depot. My old man just had some huge signs that he collected somewhere that I used. I just folded in half and then made small cuts so it could fit nicely on the bottom. It's nice because with rod sleeves they slide right in.
