nllumberco
I'm going to try a new spot that doesn't get much pressure this weekend. Right now I'm planning on setting up to setup of the deep edge of a rocky island and set tip ups going shallow. I think within about 100 yards I can find soft bottom and 18' transitioning up to 4' and rocks. I could setup either on the main lake side or a side with a small bay with similar structure. Any tips on my first honest attempt at chasing night walleyes in shallow water?
waligators
living in the western part of the state, most of our lakes force me to fish shallow.(5'-10' of water) i often keep the lights dimmed and try not to make a lot of noise. another key is to not "horse" the fish when you have it caught. there's only a few feet of water beneath you and your fish, so play him out and you should be good to go. i usually go with one dead stick and jig with a buckshot or flyer. on the good nights they hit both, some night they only hit one or the other. should be able to determine that pretty quickly. good luck!
