mod54fan
Been out fishing with vexilars and a lowrance. With my Marcum I read 29 feet and the lowrance reads 20 feet. On a different trip I read 34 feet and 3 other vexs read 29 feet. What is going on? Any ideas?
CaptainMusky
Multiple things could cause the disparity. One transducer depth in the hole isn't the same among all units. Two the cone angle of each model could be different and if you are on a sharp break its picking up the edge of the drop. Do you notice a "dead zone" where you show bottom but your lure can drop further than what is displayed?I'm assuming you have tried each unit in the same hole right? If not we have had depth differences from one end of the house to the other before on steep breaks.I wouldn't be too concerned about the depth reading itself just that you are able to read bottom, fish and your lure fine. mod54fan
Yes tried them in same hole. I can see fish and lure fine. Just thought is weird. I put transducer right underneath ice. Put the other ones the same. No dead zone
CaptainMusky
That does seem odd and honestly something I haven't noticed before in the same hole. Perhaps call Marcum and see what they say. If its off that much it could sway you from fishing a spot due to the reading you had. Something fishy there.

mod54fan
Marcum said my motor was going bad. Need to send in for a rebuild. The guy had to ask a tech, he had never heard of this.
Evobassfish
Are both transducer cords set at the same length?
