I have. My buddy had a female that was one of the better hunting dogs I have ever been behind. I would classify the breed as a whole as somewhere between a German Shorthair and a German Wirehair in terms of speed and range and desire to retrieve. You can paint in broad strokes as far as breeds go, but just like any bgreed certain lines (and even individuals within those lines) are going to exhibit different traits.
