AJWALLEYE
Does anyone know how, or if you even can, get past the problem of a warn 2000lb. winch not working in very cold weather? I have the switch that's a gray dial. It seems as though there's a delay in it, but if it gets too cold then it doesn't work at all. Any suggestions would be appreciated to keep me from getting stranded.AJWALLEYE
sledhead
Get ride of that junk switch. Upgrade it to the newer rocker switch kit. Warn sells a kit for 2000lb for 65 bucks. Just have to run new wires. Or get the 2500lbs upgrade kit which has new wiring and soleniod for 150 bucks. And that has the mini rocker switch. Remember the only difference between the 2000 and the 2500lb winch it the wiring and solenoid.------------------ride safe, wear a helmut, stupid hurtsIf you get'em serviced, wash'em first. Dave
Don't throw anything away yet. Contact Warn. My bet, they'll send you a new switch free of charge. They're pretty good at keeping consumers happy.
JEV
When I installed my Warn winch I put on the large rocker switch. I still get the problem of it not working from time to time when it gets really cold out. I'm not sure if there is a little moisture in it or something else that causes it not to work. If I play around with it long enough it eventually comes back to life. But that is only when it was around zero or below. Now that it is a little warmer out I have no problems at all. Freewheeler
I agree with sledhead. The original grey rack mounted switch will cause you lots of problems. Same thing happened to mine out on the lake last winter when I really needed it. Had to loosen the U clamp bolts to get the darn thing working again. I'd vote for the new style rocker switch and end your troubles
AJWALLEYE
Thanks for the replies fellas. Somethings gotta change, can't get stuck in the middle of the Gunflint trail when it's below zero!AJWALLEYE
RiverKarhu
Just for your info - a guy in the next town over had a garage fire in January. It was traced to the solenoid on wheeler that operates the Warn winch. He was telling his buddy about it, his buddy said his kid had the same set up on his wheeler. They strolled into the garage to look at the kids wheeler - and sure enough the solenoid was **** near red hot! Disaster averted.....River
