Da Biggin
So I just bought one of these from a local shop after finding that this company uses the exact same spring bobbers (different setup) as the St. Croix rods. The rod is called the Power Ice Spring Bobber Rod but I am a little concerned about the general lack of backbone throughout the blank but thought I should give it a shot before I judged prematurely. I have paired it with an Eagle Claw straight line reel. Should be dynamite for the finicky biters! Has anyone ever used them? What is your general take on them? MN BassFisher
Hmm I haven't heard of those!! I just posted a review on my St. Croix Legend rod paired with the Eagle Claw Inline Reel. I personally love that setup for Panfish and Trout! Great for those light biting days. I'm sure you'll enjoy that setup.
Da Biggin
I hope so. The price point was only $30 as opposed to the $60 for the St. Croix rods plus it comes with 2 extra spring bobbers. I will more than like just buy the St. Croix spring bobbers in different weights depending upon what I'm using and targeting.
CaptainMusky
I talked to Tony Roach at the Mills in St Cloud. These look like VERY nice rods for the money. Several different actions to choose from.THey have a two year warranty too so that in of itself is worth it.
Da Biggin
I saw that! Having a company willing to back their product really does go a long way. I wish I could have found some other actions though. The only thing I saw for the Power Ice Spring Bobber rod came as is. I would have preferred to have gotten a ML action one but all I could find were all the same.
Da Biggin
Tried out the new rod and reel combo this weekend with the kiddo. Minus the fact that it was forty minutes of preparation for twenty minutes of fishing it was fantastic. My 3 year old iced his first fish with it and it performed way better than expected. I told him to watch the spring bobber and when it went down further than normal to "reach for the sky" or set the hook. Five minutes later and he caught his first fish, a perch! It was awesome to experience and now I think another ice fishing faithful has been born. His redneck training is coming along swimmingly... excellent!
