cps420us
Anyone know who can service a Tanaka power head near Bloomington? I have gas leaking somewhere in my Nils. It seems to be coming from around the sparkplug and also dripping from the exhaust. Does anyone know if it is just a cracked line or bad seal somewhere? Evobassfish
What ratio are you running for gas and what kind of oil? That might explain the sludge thats coming from the exhaust.
Evobassfish
How long have you had it?
cps420us
Bought it new 4 years ago. I run Amsoil Sabre 80:1 non oxy gas. Could it possibly be a jet stuck open causing flooding? I've gone through half a tank of gas drilling maybe a couple dozen holes when it does run. I just put a new sparkplug in, and it ran fine yesterday, but today it was just bogging down and died after 4 holes.
cps420us
Anyone know if it's fairly easy to clean the carb? Do I just pop the two screws off the side and make sure not to lose anything?
Evobassfish
If it was me I would take the power head in and have it professionally looked at.

Did you know that Tanaka went back to 2009 and extended retroactively consumer warranty to 7 years? You should take it to service facility and have them fix it under warranty. They have the best warranty in the business.

cps420us
I called Omega today and the guy said it sounded like a carb issue. I asked about the warranty and he said it can be touchy because lots of things (old gas, etc.) can cause it. Does this sound true or should it be under warranty regardless? Luke_M
I work in the industry and I can tell you anything that fuel touches is hit or miss for warranty. It would have to be clear material defect. With that said it should probably go to a shop incase it needs carb adjustment. carb work should be no big deal to get done and the shop will be able to tell you if anything should be done to prevent future problems.
