upnorthhunter
Anyone have any thoughts on if you think the door will freeze up with the door in the v portion of a fishhouse i like the floor plan of the lake of the woods model but i am just afraid of the door freezing up any thoughts would be great
RiverChuckNorris
My door is on the side (ML version, 2011) and I have always thought of that exact issue! The amount of road grime that builds up on the lp tanks/v front is ridiculous after a 4+hr drive and personally, I would NOT want that being thrown at my door regardless of what anyone sais.I'd go with your gut on this one. BartmanMN
Yeah, you'd probably want to have Rock Tamers or something on your truck to prevent as much road spray as possible on that front door.
BigFish1
I have had an Ice Castle since 2006. The only thing I do when I travel is put a little piece of duct tape over the key hole. I also carry some WD-40 to spray in the key hole if it gets froze. With all that being said, I dont have a problem with the door, just the rusty frame! FishFindHer
One option you might want to consider is the Walleye Tracker model. Has the door on the side but has many of the features of the LOTW...cedar interior, long countertop, skylight, etc. Ours has the jackknife sofa in the back instead of the large dinette (also has armrests/storage on either side...perfect place to sit & drink your beer while you fish ) Ours has the small dinette under the side bunk. If you need a bigger table, I believe you can order the dinette in the back instead of the sofa...I saw one at a dealer set up that way. The only thing I can see that's missing was the sink...would have been nice to have, but not a dealbreaker for us. For hubby and I, it's a perfect layout. Here's some more info (if it lets me post a link). http://icecastlefh.com/#/walleye-tracker/4576635660 Edit: there's some difference between the LOW and LOW hybrid models...the Walleye tracker is similar to the LOW Hybrid, if that's the floor plan you liked. Also thanks for the tip on the duct tape over the lock...even though our door is on the side, we might do that anyway.
cluelessfisherman
I have the LOTW model - have had no issues after 2 seasons and plenty of trailering trips to LOTW and Red. I was also concerned when I bought it with the possibility of freeze up just as you are, but now I wouldn't think twice about another LOTW purchase with the v front door.
