Fish House Re-Build- Where to buy Supplies?? (South Metro / Metro)

Good morning, all-

Working on a fish house 'facelift' if you will.

Picked up a 8 x 14' V-Front Crankdown that isn't the prettiest thing this side of the river, but the frame is solid, well built and sturdy. The house had a lot of shortcuts taken on it with electronics, insulation, flooring, etc. - but the price was right so I took it on as a little 'project' to give this thing a facelift and do the finish work and some overhaul.

My question is, I'm kind of new to the Metro and I'm not sure where the best place(s) are to buy supplies for this type of project? Besides a fleet farm, etc.- are there any places in the South Metro especially that would offer the types of supplies I'm looking for?

Thanks, All!

Are you looking for ice house specific materials, or are you talking about wood, insulation, etc...?

if your looking for the "building" materials, then your best price will be at one of the big box lumber stores..lowes, home depot, menards, etc.. Look for sales, you will save a bunch of $ if you get some things here and other things there. I know lowes was alot more expensive on foam insulation, but cheaper on many other things.

If your talking about Ice house specif windows, doors, propane appliances, etc...then i would start searching the net for those items or go to an RV supply place. My advice would be to use as much "non rv" specific items as possible, as they are much more expensive when they are a specialty item.

I am a big fan of Menards, when it comes to big box stores. Seems like most everything makes sense. Lowes & HD on the other hand....I can spend 20 minutes looking for a hinge.

Menards in Burnsville has a selection of open box and returned windows and doors. Occasionally there will be stuff that works for a fish house back there.

If you want to do tongue & groove interior, Menards has a buy 1 get 1 free sale about every 6-8 weeks.

If you are looking for a 2x4 (or other lumber), skip Menards and go to Lowes. I've sorted my last pile of Menards lumber. It's BAD.

For basic hardware, Fleet Farm has pretty good pricing on everything.

I saved at least $200 by buying my wire online on the auction site.
