Are they any good? I'm looking to buy a light auger (less than 30 lbs). I'm looking at a 10" as well. I was leaning towards the Strikemaster Laser Mag, but have been reading about some issues with the Strikemasters. I'm sure the new Honda Strike Lite 10" would be awesome, but I really didn't want to spend more than $450 if possible.

I hear these new Clam augers are almost identical to the StrikeMasters, but have a better gear box?

I'm sure this is a Chevy vs Ford question, but I'd like to hear some opinions.

they must be good since Clam has now sold out of the for the year, so what is in retailers is it for the year. Personally I picked up the 8 inch model this year and am looking forward to using it. the motors are the same but the difference like you are already aware of is in the transmission gear case. the Clam went back to a all metal gear case and copper impregnated heat treated gears.

I'm going to assume the metal gear case is better than the Strikemasters, but as a result are heavier?

The 10" Edge is a direct comparison to the Lazer Mag 10", but Clam is 2 lbs heavier it appears. (30 lbs).
