Early Icin' at Tarryall Reservoir (11-24-13)

It sounds like people are fishing in the Midwest already, that's awesome!! Here in CO I was lucky enough to go up in elevation and find ice in October and early November. That was until the mountains got dumped on with snow and it turned the ice into slush. Some larger lakes are starting to ice up however and I was able to get out on one on Sunday, November 24th.

We started the morning in shallow water and set up on 5" of ice. The bite was good until about 11am and then the fish went deeper. So we changed locations and targeted deeper water. The ice was sketchy and inconsistent, we found 2-3" of ice and called it good. At least 2 people went through the ice on Saturday so be careful out there! Just because it's 4-5" in one spot, doesn't mean it's 4-5" in the next spot. You can see a short video of our outing here:

Just watched your bay of pigs video. Pretty sick! I recently moved from Fort Collins to Mankato. I know MN has some good fishing but I miss CO. Plan to venture out on the ice very soon and give it a whirl. Did those pig trout come from 11 mile or Antero?

Those were from the mile. Best day on the ice for me. I'm heading out there for the first time this season on Saturday.
