McCloud County pheasants?

Recommended Posts

mcleod county has been getting POUNDED hard. i had to check 3 public sections before i found one that wasnt already being hunted last tuesday. dont even think about going out on a weekend. went out last saturday and by the time i was done walking my first section of the day 3 trucks pulled up with 6 guys and 4 dogs. went and checked a couple other spots and trucks on all of them. Ive been out allot and have only got 4 roosters, and have only seen 5 total.

Now that deer hunting is over, it will be less crowded on public land. I've had good luck this year in McLeod and sibley counties. you won't know until try, definitely won't see any birds from your couch!

i have had great sucess this year. I'll even hunt a field that just got don't being hunted and still bag a rooster or 2. Just because it got hunted doesn't mean that all the birds are gone. you just have to work for them.

I second the motion in regards to walking recently hunted land. As the season progresses I always find that the roosters become more wily and smarter so I have no problem with sloppy seconds. I also look at it as a challenge for my 12 year old lab to see if he still has it in terms of keeping up the more elusive roosters.
