My 8 pt (143) was 7.5 years old and the 15 pt (186) was 4.5 years old. my taxidermist sends the teeth somewhere to Montana I believe. they count the rings in the teeth and claim to be 99% accurate. We sent in teeth that had been boiled and bleached and those teeth could not be accurately aged. it was kind of our test. it can be expensive. I think around $60 however the more teeth you send the cheaper it is per tooth to age.

Call your local CO. I know they sometimes set up at registration sites and pull teeth of the deer as they are brought in to be registered. They did it up in Hackensack one year. I believe you can get the information from the CO and then call the lab and find out the age they came up with. They might have a site setup in your area and you can have them pull the teeth.

They used to pull teeth at Gene's in New York Mills which I believe now is a Casey's and they no longer do it, I sent some years back to a place in Madelia MN. I read once it's a bit more challenging if the soil type is very sandy as that can wear them quicker than normal.
