Drake dropper
Last weekend we had high blue sky and a good breeze on Saturday but Sunday no breeze. We killed them on Saturday and not on Sunday. When you have a high blue sky with little wind are you better off hunting water? This weekend they are saying partly sunny with a 10 mph wind. Field or water? CANOPY SAM
Not to sound cliche', but I think it has more to do with being where the birds are going. I know this isn't always an option nowadays as so much land is getting posted up, and especially now that deer season is creeping so close. Are you hunting ducks or geese? I always prefer being set up on water for ducks, and in a good field for geese, but you can often get both over water, and over a field, but there again, you have to be where the birds are going.Bluebird days are almost always tough unless you are set up on the X. Bring on strong winds, a little rain, sleet, or snow, and you can set up pretty much anywhere and get birds to at least come in for a close look. fishhound2013
You could probably be hunting in your front yard on days with no wind and not really make a difference unless, like the guy before me said, you are right where they want to be. Water seems to be a little easier to get ducks to work with light wind but its only a marginal difference.
Skjefte
We had the same thing happen to us. But on Sunday we posted up in corn but next to a big body of water. Just like canopy said find where the birds are going. Birds of 1000+ were going into the water on saturday. We used the water as an attractant to get their attention and our decoys did the rest once they got in the area
