Mike Stark
I am looking at trying out some round Beaver Dam tip-ups. I have been using thermal Frabills. Last winter I had a lot of issues with them freezing up on camping trips. It made for a lot of work getting them back in action.I have heard how good the standard style Beaver Dam is but I have not heard much about the round style. Are they worth the money? Thanks. 20lbSloughShark
I have never used them, but I'm thinking they will be no better than the round thermals. I only use the standard styles. I had a ht thermal round once, but it froze in right away. It wasn't even thick ice, but trying to get it maneuvered so I can chip it caused me to snap it in half. The stick and the cross styles with a hole cover are the only way to go.

Thinking about it more the standard style is probably the better choice for camping or when ever you can't thaw out your tip ups. With the round style tip up you have to move more parts to get it set up. When those parts are iced up or frozen its a pain.

Good job Mike, you answered your own question about as well as it could have been handled I never liked the round tip-ups because I can't see my depth marker, I couldn't tell if the wind had blown it up, or if a fish had bumped it without pulling the tip up out of the hole. Stick with the original Beaver Dam
AlligatorDundee
Yep! The beaver round is what I use in the Ice Cabin They are under glass you can step on them. Outside I run beaver rails on two overlapping 10 inch holes with two freezebees.
