KidMoe
So I've been using the blind material available at most sporting good stores that is fabric with a punched out pattern of hole. I'm having this stuff rip if you look at it wrong and I'm having to repair the blind every morning and sometimes in the middle of a hunt. The one nice thing is it's easy to grass with natural stuff.I'm wondering what other people use and if there is a more durable alternative. I'd like to avoid replacing the material every year. MI Friend
I use the camo burlap that is sold at most sporting stores. I soak it in Thompson's Water Seal, let it dry. I than take glue to seal and bind the loose strands around the entire edge. For glue, contractor liquid cement works well. Can cut shooting holes and seal those edges with glue also. Have had them last for years.
rbs
cordura off E bay or Magna fabrics is what many people suggest. That is what I will be ordering for my blind.
Walleye Guy
Go to a local city's rec department and see if the have any old tennis nets. You can zip tie the material to the net and hang the net on blind poles or frames. The nets are made out of nylon and never rot, are very strong can be rolled up easily etc. The net long enough to go down both sides of a 14 foot boat. KidMoe
Thanks for the tips! That cordura stuff looks awesome, and if my math is correct I could do my entire 16' for less than 30 bucks! I just don't know how you would attach grass to it. Maybe sew some straps to it? I think i will have to investigate the burlap trick this year.
fishhound2013
You can buy netting from craft stores for virtually nothing and glue it to that nylon. It would take a little work but it would be worth it. Could even use it with burlap to make ghillie blankets for covering gear and things. Proskier2038
That stuff with the pre- punched holes is garbage- buddy put some on the duck blind last season and I took it down already because it lost all it's color and was basically a white bed sheet lol- I like the burlap throws
HNTNBUX
I bought replacement nets for the Avery Quickset and they have been very durable. They also have a net attached to the fabric already and velcro to attach to a frame.
