Broken Popup Rod?

So was in the shed yesterday and noticed a broken support shaft on the Eskimo hub house. See that on one side they simply slide into a sleeve.....but how exactly are they connected to the hub itself and how do you take it out/put a new one in? Any tricks or special tools needed?

These are fairly easy to replace once you get a new rod.

To replace the rod you need to take out the center bolt in the hub which you will then be able to remove the broken rod to replace with the new one.
