Lowrance Elite 5 DSI issue

anchor man

Question

I have a new Elite 5 DSI that works great until you hit about 35 ft deep in 800/khz and about 50ft in 455/khz mode. It still reads the depth, but the bottom content fades away. This is happening at all speeds, even down to under 1mph. Anyone seen this issue before on this unit? Any advice? They sent me a new transducer to try, but after spending good money to have the original professionally installed, I don't want to rip it all apart and start over if I don't have to.

Thanks much

I'm guessing you're referring to the contrast right? The DSI doesn't have a sensitivity setting that I know of. I think it's at about 60% right now. I didn't monkey with it too much as I've only used it a couple times now, but it's something I can try.

Thanks

Might seem silly but I remember having a similar issue with mine when I first got it, messed with it for a few trips until I realized that my dept range wasn't set to auto, might be worth looking for the easy fix. This unit's menus have taken a little getting used to over the 522 I was previously running.

I have it set to auto right now. I can see the bottom only if I use the split zoom feature, but not in the standard viewing mode. I asked Lowrance again and they seem to think it's a transducer problem. Guess I'll have to mess with re-installing the new one.
