jerk cord set up?

Wondering when people put their jerk rigs out? Do you start with them and then add the rest of your spread out or is it the last thing you do?

Last thing but I leave space for it... Usually try to be sure the other dekes are close enough to also move from the motion on the water.

Putting it out first seems like I end up tripping all over it.
