Mildew

Happened to look in the front storage of my boat today and found my striker ice lite suit...full of mildew. Been in there for two weeks+ steaming.

What do I do? Have it hanging outside drying out right now. Tried to search the site but didn't find anything.

Thanks.

From Striker:

Hi Andy,

I’d start by washing it in cold water with a mild detergent. Open all the zippers and hang it up to dry. An area that is air conditioned and has a fan would probably work best. All of the materials on the jacket are manmade and somewhat impervious to absorption so that might do the trick. If it still smells like mildew the next step would be to wash the garment with color safe bleach and repeat the drying process. It usually takes a full day to dry. Let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks and good luck,

Shawn

My biggest concern was what would happen if i put it in washer...It hasn't been washed since i bought it and it could really use a wash!!! I'll do as they suggest, if i still have the smell i'll consider either the colorsafe bleach or the scent free hunting stuff. I think the scent free hunting stuff is probably just soap without an aroma. The bleach might be more effective on killing the smell.

We'll see how it goes. It might have to wait until tuesday. I have to install my new V2 and pick up my 40hp from the boat doctor and then spend the weekend on the Croix.
