thatsawalleye
I know this subject probably has been gone over a lot in this forum but for some reason I can't find what I am looking for. Ok I am looking at replacing our incandescent dome lights in our fish house to led. I have a 16x6.5 fish house with two dome lights in it with two bulbs per light. I am leaning towards getting led dome lights similar to what we already have but don't know a lot about led lights. One of my concerns is color. (Warm, natural, blue). Just worried about it being hard on the eyes and un natural so here's my questions. What's the best color? What are the best lights you have found or heard of? Model? Where to buy? Thanks a lot! Hawg
Look up Comercial Electric T-67 on Home Depot's site. I looked a long time and decided on these. I'm curious to know what you think of them. They are very reasonable and fit in a regular electric box, most are way deeper.
Lip_Ripper Guy
Warm white is what you want. I've used cool white, and it's okay. Warm is better. If you look at my build I have the light info in there. Recessed 12 volt LEDs. Super bright LEDs dot com.
thatsawalleye
You built yourself a dam nice looking house!! The recessed lights won't work in my situation, I need to use dome style lights. Do you know what would be comparable to your recessed in dome?
low277
You may be able to change the lamps in your existing dome style lights to a LED lamp.Stay with a warm white, if they use a temperature number try to stay in the 2600 - 3200 kelvin range.http://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/...ba15s-base/838/
Hawg
It looks like it was the 12 volt lights LRG recommended is what you were looking for. If anyone else needs the AC ones like I put in be carefull that you get the warm white like the others said. I noticed some say cool white and some warm white. The ones I got off the shelf at HD were warm white, I agree it's a more comfortable color of light.I just took a second look. It seems many companies list warm and cool as close to similar-these are listed as cool, say warm on the box, but have a light listing as 27k. At least the ones I just looked at on the big auction site.
LindellProStaf
Thanks low277. I will be getting some of those also. Are they as bright as the taillight type lights that are being replaced?
low277
I can't say how bright that they are as I have never used them myself, but it is probably worth trying a couple to see if they work.
Redlineracer12
I replaced the ones in my standard RV dome fixtures with the SB60 bulbs from ddmtuning dot com. They are high lumen output and still very low power consumption. The light is much whiter than the original bulbs (1156), and probably not quite as bright, but the power consumption is so much lower that I can leave them all on at night while fishing without the generator, whereas before I was constantly turning lights on/off to try and save battery charge.
