Pitched roof question for ceiling fan

I want to put a pitch on my roof so I can put in a ceiling fan. I found a fan that requires only 7 1/2 inches from roof to bottom of blades. Anybody know of a lower profile than that? My question is the front v part of the roof, is that a real pain to build? Everyone tapers to the front and sides right? I've been told ceiling fans are the way to go, anybody disagree? Little clip ons and small fans screwed to the roof always seem to be in the wrong spot. Guessing walls should be anywhere from 6-10 to 7 ft if pitched?

You can finish off the peak so that the ceiling is flat and mount a ceiling hugger type fan to that if you want and that will give you the lowest profile. The minimum clearance figures have to do with efficiency and by moving the blades closer to the ceiling they have less air to draw and are less efficient as they get closer. The pitch of the roof and the diameter of the blade span are going to determine the rest.

Thats why I think I need to go pitched roof to get a little air for the fan. With a low ceiling it would probably be ok to shorten it a little. I added a v to a previous house and trailer and tried to make the roof work, it was a real pain. It might have been easier once my temper went down but it is all weird angles to figure and cut.

Are you thinking of mounting it off center on a downrod rather than in the center? Somehow if the roof has a peak you need a flat spot to mount the electrical box and mounting bracket. That is where i think the hugger type would give the most clearance.

LRG-How high are your walls. Can a 6 ft 2 in guy get under it safely? My guess is they can but does it look scary when you're moving around? 950 of them on there, do you remember the brand? Most are 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 as the shortest I've found. Were in a game of inches here.

Oh, it's 12 volt. I'm going all AC in this one. The LED battery operated lights are getting so good I think you can turn them on on Labor Day and you don't need to replace them till Memorial Day. The few times I use 12 volt doesn't warrant the time to add it. Thanks though.
