898C SI new 'ducer installation

RawHog

Question

I broke off the transducer that was connected to my 898C SI. I purchased a new one and installed it today, model XHS 9 HDSI 180T part# 710201-1. On Humminbird's HSOforum it lists this as the correct hi definition sidescan transducer

http://store.humminbird.com/products/314029/XHS_9_HDSI_180_T

yet on the box in front of me, it lists that "the following product is compatible with the 997C SI and the 1197C SI". Why the heck does this differ from their HSOforum?

My problem is that i cannot get any sonar at all..

any suggestions?

thanks ahead of time

Ya that is the right transducer. Do you have sonar turned on? Push the power button to turn sonar on/off.

Have you tried the sonar in the water?

Sitting on your trailer it should give you the air temp.

Do you have the correct transducer selected, hi def sides can.

Confirm the cord is connected and all points are in tact.

Sonar is ON after pushing power button. I have not put it in the water yet as i just ran the cord throw the sides of my boat. I have an air temp but there is no rapid "clicking" sound coming from the transducer. HI-DEF sidescan is selected under "sonar" in the main menu...

Next I'm going to reset defaults, and if that doesn't work then I will update the unit (if there is an update)
